Create custom keyboard layouts to map special keys

I have recently purchased a new pc from hk, thus having an US keyboard, while my main language is italian. To my surprise, the US keyboard has TWO keys less than the italian one, so as I switched to the italian layout from Windows I did not have my ‘< >’ anymore ;_( … Panic, since they are widely use when coding!

Fortunately after googling a while I found a very good solution not mentioned anywhere -> creating a custom keyboard layout! In this way I managed to map a custom combination ‘CTRL+,’ and ‘CTRL+.’ to < and >. Furthermore I decided to add the fundamental ‘È’ character to my layout (otherwise almost impossible to have in Windows, damn). Hi highly suggest this solution to all who want to remap special characters on their keyboard instead of running other (crappy) apps form windows…

You can download Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4 here.

Happy nerding!
